Hollywood-Hero Joins RNC in Their Call to CBS to Make Film Available to Historians Before Airing in November

Hollywood-Hero has read the letter released today by RNC chairman Ed Gillespie calling for CBS to make a copy of the upcoming television movie, “The Reagans” available to historians.  Mr. Gillespie contended that he is concerned by reports that the film contains many inaccuracies, some of which have been admitted to by the producers of the film.  He further stated that a disclaimer should be run during the running of the film if they don’t make it available for accuracy or don’t make changes, if inaccuracies are found.

Hollywood-Hero launched its own protest ten days ago and has received thousands of signers to our letter at www.hollywood-hero.us/protest_letter_to_cbs.us.  The people of America are not going to stand by and allow a revered president, his wife and his legacy be besmirched by producers and network presidents known not to be supporters of any Republican, much less such a successful and loved president as Ronald Reagan.

What’s even more specious is the timing of this movie.  Ronald Reagan is ill and can not defend himself.  Mrs. Reagan spends every minute of every day caring for him.  We are entering an election cycle, wherein the democrats are attempting to reclaim the White House.  Their motives are clear.  Unfortunately, most of America is unaware of their political leanings; and would not necessarily connect the dots.  We feel it’s important to connect these dots and have done so in our letter to Mr. Moonves.

Hollywood-Hero strongly urges supporters to follow Mr. Gillespie’s suggestion of counter- programming by visiting the new website, www.supportreagan.com.  The website will provide accurate information about the Reagan legacy and list ways for concerned viewers to express support for former President Reagan and his wife, Nancy.  In addition, website visitors will be able to purchase videos of the real Ronald Reagan for viewing that night and to hold Reagan parties to view it together.

We would like to add one more call to Mr. Gillespie’s suggestion of counter-programming.  We think that’s a great idea and would like to encourage and enlist teachers, PTA’s, block clubs, civic organizations, faith leaders and historians to make these videos available to our children and schools as a fun and educational history lesson and a “viewing party” at the same time.  Most of our children and younger people were either not born or too young to have experienced the Reagan presidency and it would be a public service to educate them properly about his term in office.  His solid common sense heartland values were the essence of his administration and are part of his cherished legacy; no child should be deprived of it.

We have maintained that in Hollywood, especially as it relates to their dramatic programming, a liberal slant is the rule of the day (see West Wing-NBC).  There should be a huge difference between dramatic license when producing “fiction” as opposed to dramatic license when purporting to produce an historical account of a real president.

As a matter of historical record, all presidents Democrat or Republican deserve nothing less.
